Résumé. Profonde tristesse et joie intense, exprimées dans des airs et cantates profanes et sacrés, sont les deux axes de cet album de la soprano Sabine Devieilhe enregistré avec l'ensemble Pygmalion dirigé par Raphaël Pichon. Les deux compositeurs ici réunis ont su donner à la voix une force expressive unique, Bach avec toute sa puissance intérieure, Haendel avec ses lignes mélodiques incomparables. Sabine Devieilhe, l'Ensemble Pygmalion et Raphaël Pichon ont déjà beaucoup abordé Bach et on retrouve ici toute leur science dans ce magnifique répertoire. Avec Haendel, ils nous apportent leur vision tout aussi éclairée pour traduire l'affliction, le repentir, la joie ou le désir. Sabine Devieilhe illumine tous ces airs de sa voix si pure, dont la ligne mélodique traduit avec intensité, séduction et justesse tous les affects portés par le répertoire qu'elle a choisi pour cet opus. "De Cléopâtre à la figure du Pécheur dans la cantate BWV 199, les larmes coulent, et l'âme cherche le repos." Sabine Devieilhe.
